Sony will begin selling an MD Walkman equipped with a new type jog dial for easy disc naming, song naming, track editing, etc. On Sale from Oct 21, price JPY48,000, Body color: silver, or blue, initial production: 40,000 units.

A vertically oriented jog dial has been placed on the unit. Because you can select characters and tracks by turning the jog dial back and forth and then pressing it, one finger operation is possible. Also in play mode or play pause mode if you turn the dial you will see song names in the display and you can select songs to play back, this is called "song name search function".

Equipped with a sampling rate converter.

For digital recording, has "synchro recording" that starts recording as soon as the digital signal starts arriving from the playback unit. Also goes in to pause mode when the signal stops.

The lithium ion battery gives approx. 5 hours recording time, 8 hours playback. With the external 2 AA cell case attached and alkaline cells, approx. 8.5 hours recording, 15 hours playback is possible.
