Sharp unveils audio sets for Internet recording

Thursday June 12 2:54 PM EDT

TOKYO - Sharp said today it will launch the world's first audio unit that allows users to digitally record music and other audio provided on the Internet.

Digital recording is made possible by connecting a personal computer (PC) with the audio set, including players and speakers, which records the music or other audio on mini discs (MDs).

Sharp will introduce two types of units. The MD-X8PC, which has the audio unit and special connection equipment, will be launched on July 1. The MD-X8, which does not include the connection equipment, will be launched on July 21.
